It was all
a dream.
The BEAUCOUP HOODOO ATRS BOOK CLUB was founded in September 2021 in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first time we gathered in person was in the city of Philadelphia in July 2022. During that historic gathering, BEAUCOUP HOODOO’s founder, Iya Shantrelle, threw out a wild idea to host a retreat for the larger BOOK CLUB community in her hometown, New Orleans. One of the BOOK CLUB’s DAY ONE members, Dana Jackson, Ibae, said that not only should Shantrelle host that event, but that she would help her to organize it.
What was initially conceived as a meet up, quickly morphed into a 3-Day Festival with attendees and facilitators traveling from around the African Diaspora. BEAUCOUP HOODOO FEST has become an annual portal, allowing folx to immerse themselves in experiential learnings about African Traditional Religions while deeply connecting with their ancestors and tribe.
